Time for Monday Madness – Anything Goes!

An eclectic selection of projects . . .

Stitchin Chicks are chicken pincushions with attitude!

Coverall Sam can be an applique design or a doll. Have fun embellishing with laces, a fancy hat brim, a decorated pocket. And his arms can be made 3-D for hugs! Come on, who doesn’t need a hug?!

Up & Down Memory Lane is a fast and easy quilt that finishes at 58″ square.  A couple easy blocks, some simple applique, borders and done.  It looks great in 1930’s fabrics, doesn’t it? Charm square friendly.

Fall is coming so we’ll be doing less BBQ-ing and more baking.  Get ready for all that Hot Stuff with these cute oven mitts.   While you’re sewing, make a few extra for gifts.

A churn dash block in yellows and grey or purple florals makes this beautiful Winter Garden.  Don’t you think it would also look great in deep blues and crisp whites?

Be sure to check out the rest of the  w i d e  variety of quilt patterns available at Quilters Warehouse.

Kathie’s Kreations: PURSEsonality & Six Pack Mini Quilts

Add comment August 27th, 2009

Kathie has a full line of purses that you can make and they each have a unique PURSEsonality.  All of her purses use the KK handles but you’ll only need one set – they are reuseable – just pop them in the purse you are currently using.

If you’ve never made one before you could start with My Fall Purse.  Use tone on tone fall color fabrics or go all out and use themed fabrics.  Either way, the leaves and pumpkins will ‘fall’ into place and help you step out in autumn style.

Apple Basket is another fall themed purse. Take it with you when you go apple picking! Or to shop at the Farmer’s Market.

Then get a head start on your winter PURSEsonality with Snowman In The Woods.   Isn’t he a cheery looking guy?  But we’re not going to see snow for a looooonnnng time.  Really!  Hopefully we can be as cheerful about it when it does come!

That’s just a few of the purses. But there was mention of six-packs.  No, not beer!  Six Pack Mini Quilts are Kathie’s own Kreation.  Six traditional six inch blocks are the focus of these quilts.  They are each surrounded in a Kreative way and tah dah! – you have a charming mini quilt.

Ohio Star has a dramatic, patriotic look to it.  This quilt finishes at 30″ x 42″.

Sister’s Choice would look great in Christmas fabrics.  It’s a perfect little wallhanging size to decorate for the season.

Kathie’s Kreations has several more purses and six pack mini quilts.  She also has several placemats and table runners.  Enjoy!

Welcome back to Monday Madness – Anything Goes! An eclectic selection of projects . . .

Luminosity will look best with lots of different fabrics so here’s your chance to pare down that scrap pile.  Made with alternating rows of Drunkard’s Path and Half Square Triangles, it looks fun and easy to make.

The kids will love this and love you for making it! All you need is 6 yards of fabric, PVC pipe and crutch tips.   Buy muslin and have the kids paint it.  Use a wild west type print.  Be creative!  Once you have the fabric sewn the Terrific Teepee sets up in seconds and stores easily when not in use.

Pitterpatter is a quick to put together quilt.  Comes in three sizes that will fit the baby in the family, the grade schooler and the teen.

Grace finishes at 30″ square and will brighten up any room.  Perfect for a guest bedroom when you can’t have fresh flowers.  Lots of flowers and leaves that look hard but with easy to follow applique instructions you’ll put this wallhanging together without a hitch.

Town Purse is perfect for everyday use with .  Big enough to carry everything you need (14″ X 8.5″) but not so big that you feel like you are hauling luggage around.  Lazy Girl’s trademark “No-Fear” zipper instructions are included.  And you get a bonus goodie! Wonder what it is?!

Pumpkin Party has full size pattern pieces and step-by-step instructions to make whimsical placemats, table runners and table toppers.  Get ready to party!

Hope you saw something new this week!

Decorating Made Easy With Fall Patterns

If you enjoy decorating your home seasonally it’s almost time to make the switch to fall.  You can browse the quilt patterns at Quilters Warehouse for a large selection, but here are a few to get you started.

Throw Scattered Leaves across your family room couch and you’ll be on your way to transforming your home to an autumn theme.  Look at the way the stripes in the border end with the same color in the corners!  Very pretty!

Fall Splendor features gently falling leaves on a pieced background.  This quilt is easy to make and finishes at 56″ square.  AND this one is on sale!  Only $5.06!!!

It wouldn’t be fall without pumpkins. So put Pumpkins All Around the house.  Instructions for a table runner, wall hanging and candle mat.

Find the perfect spot for this bright wall hanging and you can observe the passing seasons all year.  A Parade of Seasons – Fall is just the start . . . of course there is one for each season.  This pattern is by Helen Thorn of Pine Tree Lodge so you know the instructions will be easy to follow.

Do you need paper near the phone? Or near the computer to jot down the patterns you like?  Here’s a Straddling Scarecrow Notepad all ready for your scribbling.

Fall Glory is a pair of fall quilts.  Two different patterns but they compliment each other.  The large one finishes at 54″ x 67.5″ and the small one is 48″ x 59.5″.  One for the wall and one for the couch.  Or one for “papa bear” and one for “mama bear”.

These are just a few of the many seasonal patterns available.  But don’t too long choosing – fall will be here before you know it!

Monday Madness – Anything Goes!

This is a new feature at Quilters Showcase.  Every Monday an eclectic selection of patterns.  They have nothing in common except that you can make them!  A peek at patterns that you might not come across in your browsing.  Some of them you’ll look at and think “Wow, I have to add that to my ‘to-sew’ list.”  Some of them you’ll look at and think “Hmm, no.”  And some of them you’ll look at and think “My friend (Mary, Mabel, Miranda, Molly – you pick a name) would love this one.  I have to tell her about it.”  So, here goes. . .

Nantucket Rose is variation on a center medalion quilt. It is quite striking and conservative looking. You might decide to use some bright colors and change the look entirely. Or maybe soft pastels.

Jean of the Jungle
is a slice of the jungle in a 30″ X 37″ wall hanging.

The 2 Hour Reversible Apron is an easy project.   Once you see how fun they are to make you’ll want to  make a few extra for gifts.

The Tea Party table topper is made with wool felt.  This will brighten up any little table, perhaps in your breakfast room or dining room.   And what little girl wouldn’t love to have it in her room?

Here’s a hand embroidery project that you can take with you to work on as you wait for appointments.  Or to keep your hands busy while you watch tv.  Father Christmas Stitchery is an old-fashioned Santa.  This project finishes at 18″ square.

I hope you enjoyed our first edition of Monday Madness.   Browse more quilt patterns at Quilters Warehouse.  Let us know if you find a favorite “buried deep” in all the patterns (there are soooo many!).

Designs To Share With You – Part 2

In the last post you saw a few quilts and a wall hanging offered by Ursula Riegel of Designs To Share With You.  As I mentioned there’s lots more than just quilts.

A Handful of Fancy Placemats has five different borders, and they’re EASY to sew!  Get ready to dress up your table.  Also included are matching coasters and “party dresses” for your glasses.

Now that your table is covered, here’s A Handful of Cushion Covers for your chairs.  You can skip the pillow pocket portion of construction and use these as little table toppers.  They finish at 16″ square.

Handy Bags have three compartments and two pockets.  Perfect little bag to add to your purse collection.  They’d make great gifts too!

Pretty Aprons have five deep pockets and four different finishing options.  And they are EASY to make!  Make one for each holiday or one for each season.  Another great gift.  You have started sewing for Christmas already, haven’t you?

It seems a year doesn’t go by that we don’t have a baby to sew for whether it’s a friend’s baby or a new grandchild or maybe your own! Quilted Baby Gifts includes instructions for bibs in two sizes, a baby quilt, a blankie and a pillow.  Designs To Share With You’s “magic mitering” technique makes these quick and easy.

Give that refrigerator artwork a decent frame! Fridge Quilts & Magnets has instructions for a magnetic quilt with a slide in pocket for artwork, a calendar, or anything you want!

Now, that was a lot of variety and you STILL haven’t seen everything that Designs To Share With You has to offer.  Browse through the rest and don’t forget to check all the other quilt patterns before you leave!  Happy sewing!
