And, finally, the Christmas Kittens

Christmas Kittens

Everyone knows once July gets here it’s time to start sewing for Christmas! You’ll get a nice head start and maybe thinking about Christmas will cool you off. This pattern by Mary Herschleb makes a cute bell pull – it’ll decorate you doorknob nicely. The pattern also includes four ornaments.

That’s enough kitties for now. Time to get your machine purring.

Carol Hopkins Designs – Wallhangings and Smaller

Wallhangings and miniatures are not the only sizes of Carol Hopkins quilt patterns, but she does have a nice selection of these. She designs her reproduction quilts for use with reproduction fabrics. But don’t let that stop you from experimenting! All of these quilts lend themselves to a scrappy look, so dig out your scraps and transform them.

Carol Hopkins is currently our featured designer at Quilters Warehouse, and she has a new quilt pattern called Hooker’s Hat Patch. What a nice wall hanging it would make – a perfect accent for a family room, or as the center of attention in your entryway. Tell your guests the name of the quilt and you have a conversation piece!

Hooker's Hat Patch

For a companion quilt, try Carol Hopkins Grandpap’s Cards. This quilt pattern has the same diamond and triangle theme going that makes up Hooker’s Hat Patch. Use the some of the same fabrics that you used for her new pattern, change those background squares to red, and then won’t those quilts look great hanging together?!

Grandpap's Cards

If you’re feeling ambitious, don’t stop now… make an entire grouping; add Michael’s Victory. This quilt pattern by Carol Hopkins would complement the other two, repeating again the diamond and triangle theme, and be a bit brighter by contrast.

Michael's Victory

For a change of pace, do you want a quick quilt, a quilt pattern with no angles? Emily’s Memories is a very simple, scrappy quilt with squares and rectangles only and measures 18″ X 18″ . The wide borders would nicely showcase large pattern fabrics. It looks great with reproduction fabrics but you might want to try using something whimsical and change the look entirely.

Carol Hopkins has several other small quilt patterns and large ones too. Be sure to check out all the Carol Hopkins Designs Civil War quilt patterns and Vintage Reproduction quilts at her web site. Happy quilting!

Great Ideas from Bean Counter Quilts

Our feature this week is that of Bean Counter Quilts, designed by Lorrie Franz. These designs are meant to celebrate life events, especially the birth of a new little one! Now, who doesn’t want to celebrate that!?! All of these patterns come from the nine months to Quilt series and all feature distinctive and unique characteristics. These are a few that I just love…

Baby Charms is sure to be one of your favorites too! Perfect for use with 5” charm packs, not to mention perfect for a room with a color scheme! As is with majority of these patterns, this quilt is great for the beginner, and quick for the accomplished.

                                             Baby Charms

Candy for Baby is sure to be a favorite of baby’s. With its contrast of dark and bright colors, it is sure to capture and maintain the little one’s attention and curiosity. 2 size options available!

Grandmother’s Inspiration was originally designed for a first time grandma. It is a very versatile quilt, using fat 1/8th’s, fat quarters, charms or strips…your choice! Pick out grandma’s favorite colors OR bright colors for baby!

                                             Grandmother's Inspiration

Roll Over is another of my favorites! I love the pattern and it works wonderfully with soft flannels. An all over blanket for baby! Another bonus for the beginner…this quilt has very few seams to match!
